Things I Have Learned from My Dog
Ember came into my life and, in what feels like no time at all, changed everything. Beyond teaching me to be more responsible and that rainy day walks are actually fun, she's shown me how to embrace life’s small moments and, in her own way, reminded me what it means to love deeply and live fully. Here are a few life lessons I’ve learned along the way:
Walks are everything. The more, the better, and every path can lead to adventure.
Food is pure joy. It’s something to savour, get excited about, and share if you can.
Learning new things is a thrill. Curiosity and enthusiasm can make anything fun.
Cuddles aren’t just a luxury, they’re essential. There’s no such thing as too much cuddling.
Coming home is magic. Every homecoming is a reason to celebrate, even if it’s only been five minutes.
Stop to smell the flowers (and the grass, fresh air, or anything in between). Nature is everywhere, and it deserves a pause.
If you love someone, show them. A kiss, a tail wag, or just being close can say everything.
It’s okay to feel sad when they leave. Love means missing them when they’re gone.
A little head tilt or soulful eyes can be powerful. Sometimes, looking extra cute says it all.
Comfort is closeness. The best way to help someone feel better is to simply be there, right beside them.
Balance is key: work hard, play harder, and take naps. Life is a rhythm of energy and rest.
Playfulness never grows old. Playful paws keep us young at heart.
Stretch with a groan, yawn with a squeak. These little things add joy to our routines.
Celebrate rainy walks with zoomies. There’s a special freedom in running through puddles.
Squirrels and birds are worth watching closely. They inspire us to imagine new possibilities.
Personal space? Not with love. When it comes to cuddles, closeness is everything.
A dog really can be your best friend. They bring such joy, comfort, and unexpected smiles into our lives, always there as a reminder to cherish each moment and love with all we have.
